Description
Total fertility rate. Number of live-born children a women will bear if the fertility rate for a given reporting year applies to the woman's entire reproductive period (15-49 years) and death does not occur. Total fertility rate is calculated from the sum of 1-year age-specific fertility rates for women aged 15-49 years.

Statistics Norway
Collection
Birth statistics are based on figures from the National Population Register. Figures from 1995 and onward are based on the National Population Register, while earlier figures are based on its predecessor, the Central Person Register.
Data quality
The quality of birth registrations is generally very good and there is very little delay in reporting. Errors may occur during data entry and processing, although good quality assurance practices ensure these errors insignificant.
